Chocolate, Shakespeare & Champagne June 14

WCHS Presents the 5th Annual:

Chocolate, Shakespeare and Champaign Event

Chocolate, Shakespeare & Champagne will be held Saturday, June 14, from 7-9 p.m. at the Alexander Mansion Bed & Breakfast located at 274 East Broadway. The fully restored 10,000 square foot Bed & Breakfast was home to and bears the namesake of Mr. and Mrs. Durant (Maude) Alexander two of Winona's most prestigious socialites. Mr. D. C. Alexander was senior vice president of the J.R. Watkins Company and Maude (King) Alexander was Watkins president, E.L. King's daughter. Once the focal point of 1920s society events, the Alexander Mansion carries on that tradition again as host to the Winona County Historical Society's Chocolate, Shakespeare, and Champagne for the 5th season now.

Decadent desserts and champagne will be served at what has become the kick-off to the Shakespeare Festival and the summer social and arts season. This event is a wonderful way to get to know the actors and crew of the Festival, get a sneak peek at scenes from the plays this season, catch-up with old friends, and spend time in stunning surroundings.

A beautiful gift basket filled with tasty delicacies and a dinner with Shakespeare Festival actors will be raffled at the event.

Tickets are $20 for Historical Society members or $25 for the general public. They will be available at the Historical Society, which is located at 160 Johnson Street. For more information call 454-2723, ext. 3.
